Free to Breathe 5K Results

This past Saturday was the Free to Breathe 5K in Louisiana. This was such an amazing race and it was a beautiful day! I ran the race with my sister-in-law Karen. We both PR'd which is great! My official time was 31:06 and I ran a 10:01 pace! I was #194 out of 402 people.

Before the race started. We were trying to get situated. My husband was the designated hold this guy.
Please hold this, is what we were constantly saying to him. I think at one time he had 5 shirts, 2 water bottles, 1 jacket and a camera. haha He was so great though. That is why I love him.
My father-in-law (in the middle) was going to walk the 5K to help support Lung Cancer while Karen and I ran the 5K.
Karen and I were walking towards her running group called Go Run. www.gorun.com  They are a really cool group that meets together on Saturdays and sometimes during the week to run and train together.
We were getting ready for the race. Let's see....garmin watch, check...iphone/ipod, check....Salcony running shoes, check...running skirt, check.........TIME TO RACE!!!!
And were off. We were behind a kind of slow group at first, but then we found our way around the pack. It was a beautiful day and there supporting a great cause.
Karen came in before me and she did an awesome job! She PR'd on this race. I was so proud of her! WAY TO GO KAREN!!!!!!!
I came in a couple of minutes after her. I PR'd on my time too. When I threw my hands up it was really cool, because it got a bunch of people to start cheering.
They had  a few booths with water, oranges, bananas, water, cokes, all kinds of stuff. Then they brought jumbalya after the race, which I thought was really funny, because if I would have eaten that, it would have probably not stayed down.
Karen and I after the race. Feeling great, because we both PR'd on our time. We both can not wait for the next race!
Every race that we uaually run, we always got o IHop afterwards. This was no different. We had a great time  and got some great food!
After the race, that night, we celebrated Brian's parents 33rd anniversary with family. We went out to eat and then came back. This is my little family that I love so much!

It was a great and fun weekend. I can not wait for the next race, which will be April 17th, The Village Catfish Festival.

First Race of the Spring coming up.....

My first race of the spring is coming up this weekend and I am so excited! I am so ready to run this race. I am going to get to see my husbands family while I am there too. My father-in-law is walking it and my sister-in-law and I are running it! This is only the start of my first 5K for this spring! I am hoping that this Saturday it is not freezing like it was this time. This weather is very weird. It is hot one day and sunny and then the next, it is snowing or the windo is blowing a whole lot! Weird Texas weather!

Above is the race that I am running this weekend. It is going to support Lung Cancer Awareness! I usually try to run races that are going to support something or help some kind of cause.

I also just found out that my cholestrol was on the high side and so I have been using flaxseed inside of some of my meals. This is supposed to help bring this down and it is also very good for you.

I do not take the oil as pictured above, but instead I use the ground up Flaxseed. It is not that gritty in your food and you can not really taste it. I have used it in oatmeal and Bananna nut bread so far, and it has been great!

I hope everybody has a great week! :0)

So busy with everything and anything!!!

Sorry it has been a while since I put anything up on here. I have been crazy busy with work, and then cleaning the house in the evening. I ran 3.14 miles yesterday and then have to run 6 on Saturday. YIKES!! I am not sure how ready I am for that. I ran 5 miles last saturday and if you add around 10 -15 hills I did not stop most of the time and it was pretty good. I was very proud of myself.

I have my first 5K coming up in just a little more than a week! I am so excited and nervous! It is my first one of the season! I hope the weather looks good for it! I will try to update later. I am just going going going right now!

Alone with 2 RED WASP

So I have to tell ya'll about my experience last night. We had somebody come to the house to give us an estimate about putting up a hurricane fence in the backyard. Well I guess my mother left the back door open, because after they left, I had a RED WASP in my house! It might be a good time to mention that I hate WASP and BEES with a passion! I have never been stung and I do not intend on it happening to me if I have anything to say about it. I opened up 2 doors in my house hoping it would fly out and I thought it did, so I closed the doors. I went on about my business and painted some of the utility room and started cooking some food, when I looked up and there was not ONE but TWO of the RED WASP!!!! Let's just say that I freaked out just a little bit....okay okay....I freaked out a whole lot!

Think about it, I had just seen this thing in my living room, two of them that is.......

Sorry it is not a very clear picture, I got it offline. I grabbed Milly and I ran around the house to the atrim. I thought there was some bug spray in there, but instead of bug spray all I had was weed and grass killer that sprayed. I grabbed that stuff and I ran back around my house and towards the kitchen.

I thought okay, I can do this, I can kill those things. When I started to spray I saw that I had clean dishes in the background and my food cooking. It was a lot of dishes and I did not want to spray those and have to wash them all over again.
By then my food was boiling over and I had just cleaned up my whole stove inside and out. I ran in there and turned the burner off and ran back out to try and avoid those things.
To make a long story short, I got one of the wasp onto the ground from getting its wings wet and I ran over there to step on it, when all of a sudden I slipped and fell. I thought I broke something in my body. I stepped on that one, and then I finally did the same thing to number 2 wasp, and guess what happened that time.........Yep, I slipped and fell again and landed on my right arm/hand. I finally got up and stepped on it before it started flying again.

I called my mom freaking out, and scared there are more in my house and what does she do....she starts laughing at me! I was not happy with her laughing at me, but at the same time she was making the mood lighter for me.

I went to bed scared to death there were more of those things in my house, but when I woke up this morning I did not feel or see any all night, but I am a little sore today...I am guessing from the nice falls that I took last night.
I am going to be investing in some heavy duty wasp spray this weekend!

Push yourself to YOUR Goal

A half marathon is like life with its ups and downs, but once you've done it you feel that you can do anything.

----Anonymous----

As I was running my 2 miles today my ipod went out on me, so it was just my thoughts and the road beneath my feet! It was such a great feeling, just to be able to think through things in my head. I talked to my sister-in-law yesterday about this girl named Erin who passed away as she was running in a marathon trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon. With the Boston Marathon you have to have a 3:34:36 qualifying time or better. This girl was seen by her family at mile 20 and then at mile 21 she fell and died due to a massive heart attack. The committee calculated her time after the fact and if this girl, Erin, would have kept going at the pace she was at, then she would have qualified for the Boston Marathon. Amy had ran tri-athalons, marathons and half marathons, so nobody was aware that anything was wrong with her.
As a result of this, the Boston Marathon committee had a plaque and a finishers medal made for her and it was at her funeral, because she would have been running this race.

When my sister told me about this, I could not stop thinking about it through the night and I was not sure exactly why. But as I was running today I found out why it is that I could not stop thinking about it. This girl was pursuing a dream of running in the Boston Marathon, one of the most famous races in the world. Because of her story, they have a moment of silence at this marathon for her.

I have been contemplating the idea of running a half marthon for a few months now and have always found a reason as to why I would not be able to do it.....to much money, just graduating college, trying to get a job, blah blah blah. Well enough excuses for me. I have been looking into the Rock and Roll Series and have decided that based on when the race falls (hopefully during Spring Break of next year), that I am going to run either the Rock and Roll Mardi Gras Half or the Rock and Roll Dallas Half Marathon. I am going to hopefully be starting a new teaching job soon, so this is going to be a stretch for me, but if I put my mind to it, then I know I can do this, even if it is hard.

Thank you Erin for pursuing your dream! Now it is time for me to push myself to my limits and see what I can do!!!!!!!!!

Finally Moved and Ran

Brian and I finally got a chance to move on Saturday and I am slightly getting unpacked, but I got up on Sunday and ran 2 miles. It felt so great! I ran down a road that I know pretty well and know a lot of people on it. One lady even yelled at me "Run Forest Run!" haha

The 2 miles did kind of hurt because I had not run in 3 weeks due to packing, moving and having to clean up so much stuff, but I know after you do not run for 1 week it is like starting over. I was not expecting to feel so great on this run, but it actually felt okay.

I finished my day yesterday and decided I was going to run 3 miles instead of 2 just to see how it felt and if I could do it after not running for 3 weeks. Surprisingly, I ran the 3 miles and I only stopped twice. It felt great! The road that I ran down was nice and there was only two dogs, but they only followed me for about a minute and that was it. It was a beautiful sun shining day and I was dying to run! Now that I got my 3 miles back though and I know I can do it, I can start building on that and getting back into my schedule.

It is true what they said and like I said before, if you take a week or two weeks off, be prepared to have to almost start over. It is not to fun. I signed up for the 5K Gusher in Beaumont, TX and am about to sign up for the Free to Breath Lung Cancer Awaraness Race. I am going to have 3 races in May that I am supposed to be running! I can not wait!

After seeing recaps on the Rock in Roll Half, I am seriously thinking about running this next year if everything is not to stressful next year! It looks like a lot of fun, and it is at a great time in the year!
Today is my off today, so I am unpacking some more and working on a few things.
