So I have to tell ya'll about my experience last night. We had somebody come to the house to give us an estimate about putting up a hurricane fence in the backyard. Well I guess my mother left the back door open, because after they left, I had a RED WASP in my house! It might be a good time to mention that I hate WASP and BEES with a passion! I have never been stung and I do not intend on it happening to me if I have anything to say about it. I opened up 2 doors in my house hoping it would fly out and I thought it did, so I closed the doors. I went on about my business and painted some of the utility room and started cooking some food, when I looked up and there was not ONE but TWO of the RED WASP!!!! Let's just say that I freaked out just a little bit....okay okay....I freaked out a whole lot!
Think about it, I had just seen this thing in my living room, two of them that is.......
Sorry it is not a very clear picture, I got it offline. I grabbed Milly and I ran around the house to the atrim. I thought there was some bug spray in there, but instead of bug spray all I had was weed and grass killer that sprayed. I grabbed that stuff and I ran back around my house and towards the kitchen.
I thought okay, I can do this, I can kill those things. When I started to spray I saw that I had clean dishes in the background and my food cooking. It was a lot of dishes and I did not want to spray those and have to wash them all over again.
By then my food was boiling over and I had just cleaned up my whole stove inside and out. I ran in there and turned the burner off and ran back out to try and avoid those things.
To make a long story short, I got one of the wasp onto the ground from getting its wings wet and I ran over there to step on it, when all of a sudden I slipped and fell. I thought I broke something in my body. I stepped on that one, and then I finally did the same thing to number 2 wasp, and guess what happened that time.........Yep, I slipped and fell again and landed on my right arm/hand. I finally got up and stepped on it before it started flying again.
I called my mom freaking out, and scared there are more in my house and what does she do....she starts laughing at me! I was not happy with her laughing at me, but at the same time she was making the mood lighter for me.
I went to bed scared to death there were more of those things in my house, but when I woke up this morning I did not feel or see any all night, but I am a little sore today...I am guessing from the nice falls that I took last night.
I am going to be investing in some heavy duty wasp spray this weekend!

I can completely relate to what you're going through with those stupid WASPs! I am the SAME way with spiders. I hate them. And earlier this year I found one in my apt. I live by myself, and I don't really know anyone in my building who could come and kill it, so I totally panicked, because it freaks me out to go within 10 feet of a spider, let alone kill one. I had never killed one until that moment. Screaming all the while, I grabbed a heavy glass-enclosed candle, wrapped it in a shopping bag, and waited for the creepy crawler to make it's way on top of the kitchen counter so I could squash it. Terrified and still screaming bloody murder, I whacked it and then ground it into the counter, making sure I had killed it good. And then I was too scared to remove the candle because I didn't want to see spider guts. LOL. I hate them!! Anyway, point of this story - you are definitely not alone. :)
And congrats on your running, too. I've stopped by your blog a few times and haven't left a comment. I remember when I started running -- I couldn't even run for a minute without stopping, and now I've done numerous 5Ks and I'm training for a 10K. It sure is a great feeling when you've come that far. Keep it up! :)
hope you have a great, wasp free weekend!
too funny! I ahve been stung by bees and wasps several times. it stings a little but its really not bad lol! you would survive!
I would have been terrified! Sorry that happened to you, Kay!
Jenn- I am so glad I am not alone in that. I hate spiders too, but I definitely do not like something that can fly and sting/bite me. I am so glad that you killed that spider. I had a huge one in my house when I was cleaning it a while back and I grabbed my shoe and threw it at that. I did the same thing you did, I squished it so hard to make sure it was dead!!!
Thanks for stopping by and reading. Congrats on your running. I am going to start training for a half marathon next year. I am really excited about this.
Tricia- Thanks, I hope so too.
Heather- I actually have been stung by a bee, but it did not hurt hardly at all, so I am hoping a wasp would be the same way. I forgot that happened during school this past year.
Karen- I was terrified. I am sure you could hear it in my voice when I called you!
