I have been sick this whole past week, coughing, sneezing, sinuses like crazy! I had to take off all week to run, because I have not even been able to move hardly! But just today I feel like I can actually put on my running shoes and go out for a nice run! I may do that this evening depending on what we do! I have a race next weekend and I am really excited about it! It is a 5K and my sister-in-law is running it with me and then afterwards I get to meet up for my nieces birthday lunch!
Hopefully my body will not be to mad at me for taking a week off from running. I am not expecting to PR in this upcoming 5K, because I could not train this whole past week, but that is okay!
On another note, we almost adopted a 1 1/2 year old Cocker Spaniel today. She was beautiful and I still want her, but my nieces are allergic to the dandruff on dogs that are not hypoallergenic. They can stay around them for a little while, but not for long periods of time. This dog was the sweetest dog I have ever seen. She was solid black, crate trained, all shots up to date and everything. She is at 4 Paws Pet Society and is only $150.00 to adopt her. You have to fill out an application, but that is okay, because she is that AWESOME!
The only thing I did not like about her was that whenever a younger boy walked by she went towards him and kind of snipped at him and started growling and barking, so I am not sure how she is around kids, but she was so sweet and playful all the rest of the time.
Another lady came up behind me when Brian and I were thinking about getting her and she told us that she drove all the way home and then came back because she wanted to adopt her too.
Brian and I decided not to try and get her though, because of how she acted towards that little boy, and decided if that is the kind of dog we want to get next, that we will probably try to find a breeder and get one as a puppy to raise instead of not knowing what exactly the background of the dog is.
Oh well, this is what she looked like....she is so sweet......
When we saw her she was shaved and looked great! She is only 15 pounds. If you want to adopt her or look into her here is where you can go...http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/16094414
I hope everybody has a great and beautiful weekend!!

Nervous....heat and throat!
My race is this morning and I am getting really nervous. Yesterday my throat started killing me. It only happens a few times a year and I am not sure yet what causes it. I do not have my tounsils out and I can tell those are swollen right now. I do not think it will affect my race today because it only hurts to swallow. When my throat gets like this it only feels better whenever I am constantly drinking water, which is a good thing, but that is the only thing that makes it feel better.
The race starts at 9 and I am hoping it won't be to hot considering it is not in the morning like all the races I am used to running.
A race recap will follow soon........

6 Miles and next race
It has been a while since I posted on here. This past week my husband graduated from the State Trooper Academy and I was gone for a while supporting him with that. I am so proud of him for completing this 6 month journey! He is my HERO!!!!
On Sunday, I decided that since I did not get to run my 6 miles on Saturday, I would run it on Sunday. It was not very windy, so I knew it would be a great day. I started out running and went down a road that I had only ridden my bike on and was really nervous to run on. I had pepper spray with me that I bought at a store called GT Distributors (cop store) and felt a little better about the dogs. Anyways, there is a house that I will not run past because they have 4 huge dogs in the yard. I went to see if they were in the yard and they were, so I turned back around and ran back the way I came. By the time I got back home, it was 4.75 miles and I knew I needed to run another mile and a half. I drank half of my water bottle and then started on on my way. I ended up running 6.15 miles in all and it felt great.
A friend of mine told me that once I get past 5 miles it would be easier and she was right. Although my feet were a little numb after I ran.

This Saturday I have my next 5K. It is the Village Creek Festival 5K close to Beaumont. It is the first time they are doing the race and I am really excited that it is going on. It starts at 9 a.m. so it is probably going to be really hot that day. It is going to benefit Project Graduation for one of the schools in the area. I am very excited about running this race.
Tomorrow I will hopefully be running 4 miles.

Bike Ride
Brian and I went on a nice 6 mile bike ride yesterday. I have been wanting to go down this road for a while, but did not want to go by myself because of there being dogs all over the place. I wanted to see what the road was like back there so whenever I do want to run on there I will be able to. The road was very bumpy on the bikes, but we rode for 3 miles one way and then turned around and rode 3 miles back for a total of 6 miles. It was such a beautiful day and I loved being able to ride my bike with Brian.
Now I know what that road is like and that I need to carry pepper spray. There was only 3 dogs, but 2 of them were chained up one was running around. I probably will never run past those dogs, just so that I do not have to deal with them.
Brian graduates this weekend from the Academy and I am so excited and ready for him to graduate!!!!
I hope everybody has had a great Easter with friends and family. HE is risen today and forever!!! Remember the true reason for today!
