Saying Goodbye

I just now got to where I could write about this subject.  Many of you have seen the pictures of the bubbly boxer Brian and I bought a year ago.

Well, 2 weeks ago, we had to give him away because we moved from having a pretty good backyard to having a small apartment. Our boxer TJ was not adjusting well at all. He was peeing on my carpet, comforter, in his kennel. He needed more room then we could offer.
The other black dog in the picture is Milly! She is my baby and there was no way I would ever be able to give her away.
We put TJ up on SoutheastTexas.com, but we didn't really want to sell him, so we called around and one of our friends said they would love to take him but just could not pay for him right now.
He is such a playful, loving dog and I wish we didn't have to get rid of him, but he needed more space. My friend that we gave him to has another boxer that is the same age as TJ and is a boy and has so much room where they live. When we first brought him over there, he got out of the car and started running around all over the place. They turned the water sprinkler on and he went crazy because he loves the sprinklers.
He found his place at home and we could not be any happier for him and for our friends, but I have to admit I still miss him terribly (not his pottying habits), but him I do miss. I keep telling Brian I wanted to get another dog to try and fill that void but he is not letting me do that!

He was such a sweet boy and we will always love him, but I have to admit, it is nice only having Milly around.

Aww, I just read your comment on my blog about this. So sad. :( Our first dog as a married couple was a boxer puppy, but we were living in a second floor apartment and it was so rough on him (and us!). We ended up having to give him up after 5 days. :( Thankfully we gave him to a lady who has other big dogs and lots of kids with a big house and space and she sends us photo updates frequently. It was the best decision for him and for us, but that didn't make it easy! Anyway, now that we have a house with a backyard we love having a dog, but I know what you mean abut apartment life + dogs that need space.

We are in a 2nd floor apartment also and it was the same way on us. It was rough for him and us. I am hoping to go see our boxer in the next couple of weeks at my friends house. I miss him a lot (surprisingly). haha
